ROSTER_LIVESTOCK_Lost DiseaseTheft_Anonymized
This file contains data related Section 11. Change in Stock

This section contains detailed data on the change in number of animals in past 12 months prior to the survey, recording all entries (births, purchases, gifts received etc.) and exits (sales, deaths, losses, slaughtering, donations etc.). Data was collected on all animals except poultry (which were collected in section 12 - Change in Stock - Poultry). Data was collected at the level of the livestock GROUP.

The change in stock is equal to:

BORN + PURCHASED + GIFTS/RECEIVED – SALES – DEATHS – LOSSES – SLAUGHTERED – GIVEN AWAY

It is worth noting here that this will not necessarily be equal to the number they had on the day of the interview as reported in question LIS03, as it also depended on how many livestock per livestock group they had at the beginning of the reference period (12 months ago). The change is stock can be negative (more animals exited the farm than those that entered in the last 12 months prior to the survey). It can be positive if more animals had entered than exited the farm in the last 12 months prior to thr survey. It CANNOT, however, be more than the number the household currently owned.

For example: if the household currently kept 4 cattle (LIS03=4) then the change in stock could not be greater than 4 because this would mean that the initial stock of the livestock would be negative. If the change in stock was 6, then some of the numbers reported (either here or in the previous section) were incorrect.
